Overview

Miyatake Sanuki Udon @ Mont Kiara stands out as a true haven for lovers of authentic Japanese udon in Kuala Lumpur. Nestled in Residensi Duta Kiara, this cozy eatery offers a refined yet unpretentious dining experience tailored for those seeking comfort in a bowl of perfectly crafted noodles. The highlight here is, without doubt, their Sanuki-style udon—thick, chewy, and with just the right bite that defines traditional udon texture.

The menu boasts an enticing array of dishes, with Zaru Udon being a must-try, especially during the hot Malaysian days. Chilled udon noodles served with a refreshing mentsuyu dipping sauce deliver a clean and satisfying taste that refreshes the palate. Those who prefer warmth will appreciate selections like the Kake Udon accompanied by mini curry rice or the richly flavorful Karamiso Pork Udon. For those craving variety, the Mentaiko Crème Udon presents a modern twist, blending creamy, slightly spicy flavors that dance on the tongue.

Beyond noodles, Miyatake Sanuki Udon offers tempting side dishes such as Chicken Karaage—crispy and juicy when executed well—and classic tempura items, including 海老のかき揚げ (shrimp kakiage), which add contrasting textures and flavors. The Karaage Tartar Sauce Don and EBI Tendon offer heartier options that complement the lighter udon bowls and speak to a broader target audience, from casual diners to aficionados of Japanese cuisine.

Customer feedback reveals a pattern in their dining experience. Many appreciate the restaurant’s commitment to authenticity, especially noting the udon’s al dente texture and the traditional sweetness found in the beef slices. Some mention opportunities for improvement in seasoning, particularly with the chicken karaage, which some found underwhelming without additional sauces. Despite this, the overall ambience and quality remain consistent, marking Miyatake Sanuki Udon as a dependable destination for genuine Japanese flavors.

The space itself is intimate and practical, suitably located within Mont Kiara’s bustling neighborhood. However, parking challenges are often raised, which is typical for the area, suggesting that early arrival is wise. The restaurant feels well suited to individuals, couples, and small groups who appreciate detailed craftsmanship in their meals rather than a loud, commercial dining scene.

In summary, Miyatake Sanuki Udon @ Mont Kiara shines as a niche spot that caters well to fans of udon with its carefully prepared dishes and authentic taste profile. Its balance of traditional and slightly innovative offerings make it a worthy stop for those craving both comforting and distinctive Japanese noodle dishes in an accessible part of Kuala Lumpur.

The food is the key thing. It's superb. We tried the Beef Udon - Udon was uniquely flavourful by itself. Quite nice. Beef was a wee bit on the tougher side. Nonetheless, we love this dish. Karaage - everyone recommended this. The meat was juicy and tender. But it wasn't flavourful. Lacking in seasoning. The accompanying sauce and the tempura sauce weren't exactly helping to elevate the dish in anyway whatsoever. We ended up dipping the chicken into the beef bowl Udon soup. That itself helped to make the chicken tasted much better. Pricing wise it's on the high side. Parking is non existent. So on weekends, we were told nobody will come to summon. Weekdays is another story. Were told that there will be No towing despite the signs posted.

I was craving a cold noodle meal on a very hot day and this Tempura Udon dish is perfect! I also ordered the burdock that needs more taste than just salt and I could not taste the burdock flavour. I will definitely come back and will order another appetizer instead.

Ordered the beef udon and chicken karaage. The udon is cooked to perfection (al dante) but the taste really so so. Typical MSG broth. The beef slices are really tender and good though. Love that it has that sweet taste just like the beef you will get in Japan. Chicken Karaage is fried to perfection but taste rather bland so need to pair with mayonnaise and lemon. Overall is good but would I come back again? Maybe when I’m out of choices of what to eat.

Good food. Very comforting tastes. Udon were very authentic although price not particularly cheap. Love the nabeyaki udon. Been there three times, quality is consistent. Parking wise a bit hard, used to have a free parking space next to the restaurant but seems like they closed it off, now everyone park roadside.

Really really liked the udon. Just like in Japan, it is chewy texture. Coriander beef very very good. Cold udon great Chicken garage, crispy and juicy... But could do with that something to give it a flavour...Same with the vegetable garage/tempura...The sauce it came with was too weak 8/10 but udon get 10/10

Probably the best udon you can get around Kuala Lumpur. Their udons are made fresh behind the counter with an open concept kitchen. Been patronising this place for a couple years now and they have done a good job maintaining their quality throughout. Their prices are on the steeper side, almost close to Japan’s prices but they’re truly worth it. We’ve tried almost everything on the menu and none of them have disappointed. If it’s your first time and you’re worried about getting accustomed to their flavours, the default safe bet would be the kamatama udon. Besides that, their karaage is probably the best I’ve ever had. Juicy, crunchy and packed with meat. You won’t go wrong ordering a plate of it as a side dish. Do note that parking is pretty much non existent there, so just park along the roadside like everyone else does.

Udon lovers, this is THE place. A great way to assess how good is the food is the order their simplest dish. And I must say even with just the soup, the udon, and meat, it was delicious. This time we ordered the hiyashi tanuki udon and the coriander beef udon, both that were surprisingly flavourful. Not forgetting the tamago and karaage which were a hit as well (not captured here) Love every bit, will come here again!
